Musings of a Crackpot

Back on the DDR train

Posted in General, DDR by T on the January 28th, 2006

Ok it’s been a while since i’ve played DDR on the workout mode. So I woke up this morning, around 8:30 and started. I just really felt fat so just unhealthy, I think it comes from trying to run at lunch thursday and just failing miserably at it. Anyone that knows me know that I hate to fail at things.

So anyway, back to the DDR..I fired up my game and upped my target goal from 600 kcals burned to 800. I figured i need to eventually get up over a thousand kcals burned a session so no time like the present to get closer to that goal.

So I stepped and i stepped and i took a couple breaks (to ease the pain in my feet, maybe i have flat feet or something) and then i stepped even more. I’m sure that the question on everyone’s mind is did i reach my goal, well go and look at my Dance Dance Sweat Sweat page and find out for yourself.

2006 so far..

Posted in General, Flash by T on the January 4th, 2006

Hi all…let’s recap on 2006 so far shall we? On Sunday Janet and I rode up to ‘the City’ (San Fran) to want the last game of the season for the 49ers. It was the first professional football game that I have ever actually been to. The seats were awesome, Candlestick Park is my football mecca, even if they do call it Monster Park now. It’s always going to be Candlestick to me. The game was a battle between the 49ers (crappy this year) and the Houston Texans( even crappier). Luckily the defense for the 49ers showed up and played really well and we (the 49ers) managed to win the game in overtime. The fallout, the 49ers went 4-12 for the season, doubling the win total from last year, but completely eliminating themselves from having any chance at the number one draft which will probably be Reggie Bush from USC.

Started back working on Tuesday and I’ve gotten to play around with something fun again…Yahoo! Maps. At work I’ve been trying to develop a mapping process that would work with our current application and I tried both Google Maps and now Yahoo Maps. There are great aspects of both and I really wish that I could combine parts of both. Yahoo currently offers a Flash API for their mapping service and includes automatic geo-coding which is perfect for our needs. I’m really having fun playing around with this API and i’m hopefully going to have some free time to try it out for my own uses.

I’ve been watching the end of the college bowl season and there have been some really good games. I’m watching the USC-UT game right now and it’s a very very good game. I love some football.

At work I’ve been listening to podcasts from Zencast. I really enjoy their podcasts, I’ve been wanting to get more and more into mediation and zen mediation and buddism in general and this allows me to learn and reflect at work and actually helps to keep me calm in regards to my interactions with with some of the people in the company that i work for.

Well that’s been my 2006 so far, not great but not spectular either. But overall I’m liking 2006.

Happy New Years

Posted in General, Video Games by T on the January 1st, 2006

To all my friends out east, on the west coast and inbetween and overseas….happy new years!! I’ve had a good laidback day, well other than a nightmare i had to start out my day. The sun finally came out today so I got to enjoy the ocean and the beach today…i wish that i had remembered to bring my camera with me. Tomorrow’s game day and i’m stoked!! I definitely have to remember to bring my camera with me and take lots of pictures. I don’t have a new year’s resolution but i do have plans. They consist of getting a better grip on my finances, losing weight, and improving my work skill set. I’m not getting any younger and I have to get things in order sooner rather than later…I have the feeling this is going to be a major major year for me so I’ve got to get it off to a good start.

I bought God of War yesterday for PS2. I played it for about 5 hours yesterday and i can see why it is being called game of the year for PS2 by some critics. It’s so easy to play and yet addictive and engaging and the level of depth and complexity is slowly increased so you get more and more skilled as the game goes along. Also the storyline and the presentation are incredible, all the way around. Well i have an hour until the new year…i’ve got to do something interesting to break in the new year, wish me luck!
