Sunshine, Glass Joe, and Solutions

It finally stopped raining, I didn’t get washed away. I forgot just how much i missed the sun, and how gorgeous it is here. The blue sky contrasting against the beautiful redwoods on one side and the expansive ocean on the other. I’m ready for spring and summer to truly set in.

I finally got around to setting up my nintendo today and playing some Mike Tyson’s Punchout. Man, i forgot just how fun and addictive that game truly is. I’m hooked on 8-bit graphics all over again. Who doesn’t love knocking out Glass Joe over and over again?:-)

I also fixed my blog layout problem. I had kept pushing it off and i just did an update to WP 2.0.2 and that did the trick. I’m glad to have access to all my previous entries, and my dance, dance sweat sweat page which sorely needs to be updated. I also need to start working on creating a code portfolio and test beds for some of my coding ideas. Well I updated my Live Press plugin so it’s time to see if it’s working or not.

Edit: I had to update my Live Press plugin but I think it seems to be working now. I really like just having one place to blog and having it update both sites.

Amusement Parks

Long weekends are nice, let me just get that out of the way first and foremost. I recently started taking advantage of the fact that I have 3 day weekends due to working 4/10 at my job here in Scotts Valley. I woke up sorta early on friday and did about an hour and a half of DDR. After that, I cleaned up some and met some of my co-workers for lunch, Mongolian BBQ. Yum! After that we went to Fry’s. It was the first time that I had been in a Fry’s. Man, I could spend a ridiculous amount of money in there. I limited myself and just bought a new keyboard and mouse and some cds and a game. After Fry’s I risked death and rode down 17 with Charlie, in the rain… Trust me, this was very very dangerous, at this moment I’m still not sure if I died on the way back and am currently in heaven or hell at the moment.

After Friday’s Fry’s adventure, I went to Paramount Great America. Overall it was a good trip, except I’m learning more and more than I’m getting too big and tall for this world. There was a ride there, The Grizzly, that my large physical proportions keep me from being able to ride it. I was so just sadden about it all. I’m a little overweight but my problem was a combination of my height and my just general dimensions. Just more evidence that I need to become filthy rich and built ‘Tiayr’s Big and Tall Fun World!’ I have a season pass so I’ll probably go back a bunch during the season and hopefully I’ll enjoy all the other rides that they have. By the way, the new Survivor ride, did not look impressive, I didn’t even have the urge to ride it.

Today I rode up the 9 with Janet and just took in the sights. Redwoods everywhere, it’s amazingly beautiful. It’s really hard to grasp how tall the tress are here. I would look up and then have to bend my knees and lean back to finally view the tops of trees. It gave me a sense of how little kids feel looking up to me, I just ended up smiling and enjoying the view. We rode through Felton, Ben Lomend, Brookdale, and Boulder Creek. If the redwoods weren’t there it would have been just like driving up in the mountains in western North Carolina. The towns were little backwoods looking towns, except they all have wi-fi and expensive cars in every driveway and the general cost of a home there would be at least a half a million dollars. So yeah, almost exactly like western NC expect not at all:-)

Doctors, Hoops, and Saving Queendoms..

It’s been a laid back weekend so far. I went to the doctor on friday to get a checkup and new asthma meds. My new doctor seems pretty cool so far, she was worried about my blood pressure so i have to get some bloodwork done on that front. I’m definitely not looking forward to that, i do not like needles in the least. I bought a couple new games on friday as well Ultimate Spiderman and Suikoden V . I just started playing Suikoden V yesterday, and so far it’s pretty good. It seems to hark back to the earlier games in the series and definitely a change of pace from Suikoden Tactics which I did enjoy. I finally got some basketball in this weekend, it’s the first time that i’ve played since I moved out to the west coast. I wasn’t pleased with my performance, but it has been nearly a year if not longer since I’ve really played some basketball. So There’s definitely some room for improvement, and dropping about 40 lbs wouldn’t hurt either. One thing that I didn’t miss about playing basketball, having people step on my toes..they are killing me right now. Oh well, time for laundry and starting my recruitment of the 108 Stars of Destiny!
